For a thousand years the supernatural were in war against one another. There were no alliances, there was only war. Vampires, Demons, Werewolves, and Witches were all pitted against each other. One day, like a Romeo and Juliet story, love formed between the groups. Their teenagers started questioning why they were fighting in the first place. Truth be told they had been in war so long that any who remembered why was dead. To keep war from continuing the teens went to their council. A vampire with a demon and a witch with a werewolf had never been heard of before. At first they were discriminated against but their families pleaded for them. Eventually the council's of each group decided to end the thousand year war.
There was still unease between them but they lived in harmony and the hybrids were born of the groups. They are and forever will remain neutral. One day, on a patrol, a witch came running back to her council with news that a demon had killed her friend. The council did not question the witch on weather or not the story was true. The council had been waiting for a reason to declare war on the demons because they thought of them as an inferior race. The witch had told a rumor but no one cared. They had been waiting for a chance like this. Some of them still had war burning in their blood and wanted it, no matter the cost.
Many have tried to remind everyone that they had lived in peace for many years but most dismiss it as a "break from war". They have re-told the story of the teenagers but they have dismissed that as just a story to pause the war. Some do not wish for the war to happen, and never did but are sucked in none the less. Others craved the blood and war that the others did not. Most Hybrids have remained neutral through all of this but some have been bribed by blood lust, money, and family ties into the war.
